- 1. Please introduce yourself.
- Hii I'm Lianna, or Lily (on Neocities) and I really enjoy web design, whether it comes to coding my own or looking at other people's. Besides coding I love watching movies (specifically '80s-'2000s rom-coms) and listen to PinkPantheress pretty often.
- 2. How long have you been making websites?
- Only 5 months 💔 and not even "websites" this is my first one!
- 3. And what got you into the hobby?
- I saw quite a few tiktoks on it and I decided to try even though I only had experience learning block coding.
- 4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
- Definitely personal ones, but I don't mind educational ones either!
- 5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
- I plan my pages using Canva bc I can't draw and add/remove things as I go!
- 6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.


- 7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
- Definitely decorating it by adding blinkies and stamps. Imo they give my site much more charm ❤
- 8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
- Making efficient css code. Somethimes I overuse things I learn from w3schools. For example, I used to use asides like div classes so if I had to adjust 1 aside I really had to adjust all of them just for the webpage to look normal again 😞
- 9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
- Different layouts depending on the info displayed there.
- 10. How confident are you with CSS?
- Well ik the basics... my site wouldn't look the way it does without Pinterest tho 🥰
- 11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
- No, I just found out what it was from this code lol
- 12. What is your favourite HTML element?
- Probably <hr> because it helps keeps things organized on my site? I nvr rlly thought abt that tbh
- 13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
- I follow along with my Canva draft from top to bottom (ex. title, main, etc).
- 14. Do you know JavaScript?
- Ew (I'll learn it one day)

- Yea idk what that is 💔
- 16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
- I try to give most of my webpages a light blue and white color scheme, but some of the pages have different ones.
- 17. Are you more focused on content or design?
- Design. Idc if my site has great content I will edit the page over and over again until it's cute.
- 18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
- No, I don't mind not having one rn.
- 19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
- They're pretty cool, I don't see much tho.
- 20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
- I just found out what that means and yes my html is valid 😊
- 21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
- I think they're really cute! I don't see much banners but I love the idea of saving someone else's button and linking back to it.
- 22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
- They're pretty cool! I see most of the them organized alphabetically but I think that if they were color-coded that they'd look good too.
- 23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
- I think I'd make a similar site content-wise but I'd probably change the color scheme or layout. As of right now I really want to start over too 💔
- 24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
- No... I admire a person's site but there's no need to be jealous bc there's still room for me to improve on mine.
- 25. What text editor do you use?
- I don't use one, I js code on Neocities.
- 26. Why do you use that one?
- I'm not that familiar with text editors, idek the benefits of using one.
- 27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
- On my web server, but to avoid hotlinking I get them from OneDrive.
- 28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
- I read an article abt it and idrc 💔 everyone has their own preference. Maybe I'll use Nekoweb one day but I'm not sure.
- 29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
- Idk a specific value but I think my website would take up more space compared to newer websites that are less than a year old bc I use a lot of images.
- 30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
- No, if there's a page I don't use anymore I js copy and paste the code to a Google Doc. I am planning on uploading them back on Neocities eventually.
- 31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
- I prefer visual websites, but I don't mind simplistic ones.
- 32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?
- I stick to light blue and white because they're my favorite colors!
- 33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?
- No, I haven't thought about quitting.
- 34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?
- Two of my irl friends has websites, but one of them hasn't started to code yet and the other's is a wip.
- 35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
- Only my close friends and guidance counselors. I try to keep this site anonymous until I'm more comfortable so that's overtime I'll link socials and used my real name instead of nickname but I won't post my face.
- 36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?
- I update my site weekly or everyday, depending on how much homework or studying I need to do.
- 37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
- I've change my design quite a bit. Sometimes I js get bored of the color scheme (if it's not light blue or white) or I need to move things around.
- 38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
- You-focused, this is my hobby!
- 39. Do you do web design professionally?
- No
- 40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?
- I'd love to do web design part-time in the future because I don't want to be staring at a computer all day.
- 41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
- I don't unless it's one of my teachers.
- 42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?
- I still keep social media, but I don't use it as often as I used to.
- 43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
- I only use Whatsapp mainly to talk to my family, friends, and to gain info from clubs that I joined.
- 44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
- Sometimes, typically PinkPantheress or an album I've never listened to before.
- 45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?
- I keep everything on 1 website.
- 46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
- Many topics, all documented on my sitemap.
- 47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?
- I present my real self. I don't see the need to make a persona.
- 48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?
- No and idrc bc I'm a bit antisocial on here but I enjoy the engagement from my followers (specifically likes for example).
- 49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?
- Yea it's pretty interesting to learn too!
- 50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?
- Idkk
- 51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
- I think that people to talk abt their media consumption in a log. It'd be cool to see if other ppl have the same taste as me.
- 52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
- I used to use semantic HTML but I stopped bc it's boring 💔 I stick to making div classes now.

- No
- 54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
- I typically use Chrome bc I use a lot of Google apps in general. I'm not convincing anyone to use it bc idc what browser they use lol

- Windows 10 on my Dell laptop (Since I got it now it won't update 💔)

- I don't have a strong opinion on that bc my laptop is still functional.
- 57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?
- No, idek how to make it mobile-friendly.
- 58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?
- It's fine as long as the music isn't super loud.
- 59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?
- Webrings are cool, but idk where I'd put them so I'm not in any rn.
- 60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?
- I only have 1 web shrine, and it displays my hamster stickers by almarts27. I don't use all of them, but I think the page is rlly cute!
- 61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?
- No
- 62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?
- I'm striving for one that's completed and I can update monthly instead of weekly. However that's been difficult because I'm indecisive about everything.

- I'm not an artist and I don't draw/design my own assets bc I can't draw 💔

- Coding for longer than I intend to.

- Be consistent. Your website will get better overtime!
- 67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?
- Most of my styling is in CSS. I only hard-code some depending on the content.
- 68. What do you think of frameset layouts?
- I don't rlly know too much about them.
- 69. How about table-based layouts?
- I love using them to organize images!
- 70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?
- I don't use any column layouts bc I dislike them.
- 71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?
- I spend longer on HTML, especially for table-based layouts.
- 72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.
- No, CSS is very important to me.
- 73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?
- I only make layouts if I have a webpage idea. I don't make layouts js to make them.
- 74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?
- Definitely a beginner. I can add/upgrade things to a tutorial webpage but that's pretty much it.

- No

- Yes, specifically margin codes and asides.

- Idk I've nvr used them before.

- I size things in px.

- Yes, Courier (this font)!

- I'd love to run a music review site with my friend!

- Yes, typically when I finish my own.

- I don't bookmark other people's websites, I use their buttons. If someone used my button then that'd be really cool!

- My "Lily's Archive" page or my "Albums and EPs Gallery" since they're my favorite pages.

- Not rlly...

- Idk, it depends on what I'm adding to my site.

- Teens, maybe young adults.

- No, idk what that is
- 89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?
- No, I haven't done any programming.
- 90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?
- I've nvr used an SSG or know what it is.
- 91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?
- Neocities keeps track of hits for me, but I don't have it publicly on my site. I've considered using a hitcounter but I'd never know where to put it.

- No, I don't frequent forums.
- 93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?
- I typically write my page content into Neocities, but sometimes I copy and paste it from Canva.
- 94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?
- I don't think I'm that cool 💔 ppl will say that I like smth tho
- 95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?
- I've nvr been embarrased of my old work except my sematic HTML homepage. I'm glad it's gone.
- 96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?
- I'd probably add a final update into my update log and neglect it.
- 97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?
- I'm more secretive on my website. I want ppl to get to know me but I don't want ppl from school to know that it's me.
- 98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?
- I have a bff but they don't have a website.
- 99. And do you optimise the images on your website?
- I use margins and the px measurement to adjust things as needed.
